The BBFC have been using the following logos for general-release movie ratings since 2002:
But is it time for a change? I would say yes.
Firstly, I have noticed a tendency for parents to treat the 12 DVD rating as 12A. They will happily buy these films for their under-12 children while having strong reservations about 15 movies. So why is it still 12 for DVD and 12A for cinema after fourteen years? I propose that DVDs also be rated 12A following the majority parental consensus.
Secondly, the logos are outdated, still using the 2002 BBFC logo in the background. I have yet to see a version that uses the 2013 logo. In fact, I suggest a full revamp similar to the 2013 one of the MPAA ratings. For cinema and cinema advertising:
For DVD, the rating info would go at the back.
Bear in mind this is just a quick mockup and the final logo would be a lot neater.
